Giving LumiFrame as a Gift
Give someone a prepaid season or year of LumiFrame Premium or Elite: pick a plan, schedule the email for a holiday or birthday or print a card, and see how they claim it.
A LumiFrame gift is a prepaid stretch of Premium or Elite for someone you share photos with. It turns the phone, tablet, or TV they already have into a living frame, so there is nothing to wrap and nothing to ship. You can buy one on the gift page.
#What you can give
| Gift | Price | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Premium, 3 months | $14.99 | Video, every theme, casting, and up to 10 frames |
| Premium, 1 year | $39.99 | All of Premium for a full year |
| Elite, 1 year | $69.99 | Everything in Premium, plus Google Photos, Dropbox and OneDrive imports, and room for 25 frames |
Every gift works the same way:
- Paid once. It never renews, and it never asks them for a card.
- Their time doesn't start until they claim it, not on the day you buy it.
- Unclaimed gifts don't expire. There is no rush for them to claim it.
#Buying a gift
- Go to lumiframeapp.com/gift.
- Choose a plan.
- Type their name. The card beside the form fills in as you type, so you can see what they will get.
- Choose how it gets to them: Email it to them or I'll give it myself.
- Add your name the way they know you, and a note if you like (up to 500 characters, with no links or email addresses; to share photos, attach one of your albums).
- Select Continue to payment. Checkout is run by Link, from Stripe, which adds any sales tax.
You don't need a LumiFrame account to buy a gift. Right after you pay, we email you the gift code, the claim link, and a printable card. Link, from Stripe, emails your payment receipt separately. When they claim the gift, we email you again.
#Choosing the day it arrives
With Email it to them, the gift goes out as soon as you pay, unless you pick a day:
- Tick Send it on a particular day.
- Pick the date. Toward the end of the year the form offers shortcuts for Dec 24, Dec 25, Dec 31 and Jan 1.
- The email arrives around 9am, your time, on that day.
You can schedule a gift up to a year ahead, which makes it easy to sort out holiday and birthday gifts early. Your own email still arrives straight away with the code in it, so you can hand the gift over yourself if your plans change.
#Giving it yourself with the printable card
Choose I'll give it myself and we don't email them anything. Instead, your email has a Print a gift card button. The card shows the plan, who it is for, who it is from, your note, the gift code, and a QR code that opens the claim page.
Print it, tuck it into a card of your own, or save it as a PDF and send it however you like. You can also just write the code down. It looks like ABCD-2345-WXYZ.
#Sharing an album with the gift
If you are signed in when you buy, you can attach one of your albums to the gift. When they claim it, we invite them to that album as a viewer, from your account, so their frame has your photos on it from the first day.
#Claiming a gift
For the person receiving it:
- Select Claim your gift in the email, or scan the QR code on the card. If you only have the code, go to lumiframeapp.com/redeem and type it in.
- Create a free account, or sign in to the one you already have.
- Select Claim my gift.
- Open the LumiFrame app on your phone, tablet, or TV and sign in with the same account. Everything in the plan is unlocked.
No card is needed, and nothing renews or charges you when the gift ends. In the app, the plan section of your account settings shows the plan as a gift and the day it ends.
#If they already subscribe
The gift still works. If they already pay for LumiFrame through the App Store or Google Play, the claim page tells them before they claim it.
The gift runs alongside that subscription, and the store keeps billing them until they cancel it. To use the gift instead, they claim it and then cancel in their App Store or Google Play subscriptions. Their plan stays on until the gift ends.
#More than one gift
Someone can receive more than one gift. A second gift starts when the first one ends, so none of the time is lost.
#Refunds
A gift can be refunded until it is claimed. Write to [email protected] from the email address you bought it with.
#Troubleshooting
Your email with the code hasn't arrived. It usually takes a few minutes. Check spam or promotions, then write to [email protected] if it still hasn't come after ten minutes.
Their email hasn't arrived. If you scheduled it, it goes out around 9am your time on the day you picked. Otherwise ask them to check spam, or send them the claim link or code from your own email.
The code isn't accepted. Codes don't mind spaces or lowercase letters, and an O, I, or L is read as 0, 1, or 1. If it still fails, the gift may already have been claimed: sign in with the account that claimed it and the plan will be there.
